Mother's Day

This will be my first Mom's Day without my Mom. I am discovering that it is actually getting more difficult with time. Maybe it takes a while for any change in my life to really sink in. I still have not opened the jar of caviar and bottle of champagne I planned to have in Mom's honor. Perhaps I'll do that Sunday. Too bad I can't find copies of Dynasty on DVD. We always enjoyed having our champagne & caviar while watching Dynasty! All I can say is, enjoy, cherish, honor your mom (and dad, too) while you still can. Life really is short.

Rant of the Day

Lately I've heard a lot of peple using the word "concerning" when I think they mean to say "disconcerting." I find this trend disconcerting.

Use Your Imagination

I wish I had a camera good enough to capture the view from our kitchen window. We have a pair of nesting bald eagles in our back yard. Now that the hummingbirds are back, we get a lot of them visiting our feeder next to the kitchen window. Standing at the sink, you can look out and see hummers at the feeder in the foreground, and an eagle or two in a tall tree in the background. Very cool. Use your imagination . . .

Financial Ruin

It occurred to me that this financial mess we have gotten ourselves into just may change the way we live in this country. I think we need to adjust our expectations and possibly even (gasp!) lower our standard of living! If we are "fixing" it by getting it back to the way it was before, it's like someone who smokes all his life, gets lung cancer, and thinks, "I'll go back to smoking 3 packs a day as soon as I get myself some oxygen!" I did, however, see a sign on a house in my neighborhood advertising "buy this house with no money down and no payments for 3 months." Okay, how is this different from all those loans everyone is defaulting on? Crazy . . . .
